Our Partnership with ECR
Kay’s Kids is proud to partner with Every Child a Reader (ECR), a structured literacy curriculum rooted in the Science of Reading. ECR provides a step-by-step, online program that helps children strengthen their reading, writing, and spelling skills through proven, evidence-based instruction.
Through this partnership, we provide eligible families with access to a full year of ECR’s online, parent-facilitated instruction at no cost. By combining ECR’s research-based methods with personalized support from caregivers, we’re working to close the literacy gap and give every child in our community the opportunity to thrive.

Do We Qualify for Help?
To qualify for support through Kay’s Kids, families must meet all of the following criteria:
- Reside in Sumter County, FL
- Child is in grade 1-12 (public/private school) or age 6-22 (homeschool)
- English is the 1st primary language spoken in the household
- Have internet and computer access
- Child meets criteria on the Kay's Kids Literacy Checklist (see below)
- Demonstrate financial need with one of the following:
- Medicaid award letter
- WIC or SNAP/food stamps award letter
- Low income housing agreement
